We are selective about both the authors we represent and the people we invite into the agency. Professional Standards
Agents must handle unpublished work, client conversations, editor outreach, deal details, and rights opportunities with care, judgment, and discretion.
Commercial Taste
Strong taste matters, but so does the ability to understand category, positioning, readership, comparable titles, author platform, and where a project can sell.

About the Role
This is a selective literary agent opportunity for someone prepared to evaluate authors and projects at a professional level, contribute to submission strategy, and build author careers with care. The right person may already have publishing, agency, scouting, editorial, bookselling, or rights experience, or may be an exceptional agent-track candidate with unusually strong taste, discipline, and market fluency.
Responsibilities
- Read and evaluate query submissions
- Identify projects with real commercial, editorial, and career potential
- Write clear internal notes on fit, positioning, strengths, and risks
- Research editors, publishers, imprints, and comparable titles
- Develop targeted submission lists and project positioning
- Track submissions, responses, rights opportunities, and deal activity
- Support professional client communication and author career planning
- Follow market news across fiction, YA, romance, fantasy, and select nonfiction
Qualifications
- Excellent written communication
- Strong reading judgment and the ability to explain why a project works or does not
- Familiarity with current books, categories, comp titles, and author platforms
- Organized, responsive, and comfortable with detailed tracking
- Professional discretion with unpublished author material
- Interest in publishing as a business, not only as a reader
- Publishing, agency, editorial, scouting, bookselling, rights, or adjacent media experience preferred
